Why noren

A noren is the cloth curtain hung at the entrance of a Japanese shop, carrying the shop’s name. Over time the word came to mean the shop’s reputation itself, the good name a business has to earn and then protect.

We chose it because a good name is exactly what a guide has to earn. Every Noren Press guide checks its claims, says plainly where the evidence is thin, and gives you something you can measure.
